Not All Protein Powders are Created Equal

Plant Based Plus Protein? Yes Please!

I may not be vegan, but I often put whole foods and plant based products at the top of my grocery list. And because I don’t do dairy, regular protein powders never worked for me. But I still wanted to be able to partake in a super yum protein smoothie…So then what?

Thankfully, plant based protein powders have come a LONG way since I started this journey 6 years ago. Along the way, there have been powders that tasted like I just scooped up some grass from the neighborhood park, strawberry chalk, and so thick n funky that you’d have thought I was making pudding.

And though I have come across many plant based proteins that I enjoyed, NutraKey’s V Pro has been one of my favorites.

So I don’t get anything wrong, I snatched this straight from NutraKey’s website. Here is a list of everything that’s in V Pro Plant Based Protein…

6 SOURCES OF RAW PLANT PROTEIN

V Pro delivers the right combination of vitamins and minerals your body needs to fully absorb and use our pure plant-based proteins.* Instead of limiting our sources to things like pea protein isolate, we carefully craft each blend using nature’s wisdom. V Pro’s comprehensive ingredient profile includes 6 key plant sources to provide proper nutrition:

Spirulina

Packing 22 amino acids, essential trace minerals, and up to 70% of its weight in protein, Spirulina is a nutritional powerhouse that earns the title superfood.

Artichoke

Loaded with phytonutrients, artichokes provide a low fat, low cholesterol and low calorie protein source.

Quinoa

Rich in fiber, Magnesium, B vitamins, Iron, Potassium, Calcium, Phosphorus, Vitamin E, and more, quinoa is a fantastic multi-vitamin package. Plus, it packs 8 grams of protein per cup!

Amaranth

As an ancient grain, amaranth provides all 9 essential amino acids, making it a complete source of protein.

Pea

Heart-friendly peas are rich in arginine, which supports muscle growth and circulation. Peas also provide all 9 essential amino acids.

Brown Rice

A hypoallergenic, staple protein source, brown rice is gluten free and low in cholesterol, while also being rich in Manganese, Selenium and Phosphorus.

V Pro Flavors:

  • Natural
  • Vanilla Cookies
  • Banana Nut Bread
  • Chocolate Bar
  • Mochaccino

I’m not much of a Chocolate Smoothie lady (I know I know, it’s weird, I get it.), so when it comes to V Pro I use the Natural flavor the most often. This way I can add it to my pancakes, cookies, smoothies…anything I want, and it won’t add or take away any flavors. After that, I’m all about the Vanilla Cookie. mmmmmmm *drooling on my keyboard*

Whichever flavor suits you best, I think you’ll find that V Pro has a great taste, doesn’t give you any tummy upsets, and is filled with so many beneficial ingredients.

Protea Nutrition

VePRO

Twenty grams of organic brown rice protein and natural pea protein supply your body with essential amino acids and non-essential amino acids that are used to support proper metabolic function and muscle recuperation.

Note-worthy Mentions

Twenty2 Nutrition

Collagen-Egg Protein

Collagen Egg protein is comprised of collagen peptides sourced from pasture-raised, grass-fed bovine hides and whole eggs to create a complete amino acid profile to support internal and external health.

Shop Twenty2

Both of these companies deserve more than an honorable mention.

Even though I don’t take in any beef products, the quality of twenty2 nutritions protein is excellent, and because of what it’s made of, is a complete protein that doesn’t use dairy, and doesn’t hurt tummies. Protea Nutritions VePRO is also incredibly clean, and very high quality.

Both of these are small business, female owned, and from women who have been in the health and fitness industry for many years. So they know their stuff, and we love to see it!

Whether you are a Plant Based Powerhouse, or traditional Protein Powder connoisseur, I think you will find any of these proteins will certainly get the job done.

However you do it, make sure you stick to the moral of the story…GET YOUR PROTEIN IN.

I love you. GO FORTH.
